The story
Katseveer serves modern cuisine at Katseveerweg 2 in Wilhelminadorp, just outside Goes, in a former ferry house on the Oosterschelde. Gault&Millau awarded it 15.5 in 2026, and the dining room looks out over the water.
Leon Vermaire cooks here as chef and owner, with Paul Labruijère as co-owner, master sommelier and host of the wine list. Before returning to Zeeland, Vermaire spent years working in Hong Kong under fellow Zeelander Richard Ekkebus. That time shaped a Zeeland cooking style with an Oriental twist, which shows in the seasoning and textures on the plate.
Reviewers have singled out the cod with smoked Oosterschelde eel, served with a beurre blanc lightly smoked over toasted hay. Seasonal produce from the region appears throughout, including strawberries from Zuid-Beveland that close the meal. The current menu lists Zeeuwse kreeft with takuan and dashi, and lamb from Lindenbergh with aubergine and sherry.
Wooden tables are dressed with large linen napkins, and the windows face the Oosterschelde, with boats passing slowly outside. An apartment above the restaurant can be booked for a minimum of two nights.
