The story
Kale & de Bril, at Piet Heinstraat 3A in Goes, serves seasonal country cooking with international influences. Gault&Millau awarded the restaurant 13 points for 2026, a score that reflects its focus on local produce.
Marc Everse and Niek Traas are both owners and chefs, and they split the work at the stove. Cooking follows the season, and much of the produce comes from Zeeland. The menu runs from three to seven courses, and it can be adapted for allergies, intolerances, or a fully vegetarian or vegan meal if you mention it when booking.
The dining room is small, and the kitchen is semi-open, so guests can see the cooks at work. Alcohol-free drinks can be ordered as a pairing alongside the dishes, and the hosts are happy to advise on which one suits each course.
