The story

Coin Coin Italian Restaurant in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Brussels: Fresh Pasta and Terrace

Coin Coin is an Italian kitchen at Avenue Jules de Trooz 13 in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Brussels, and Gault&Millau gave it 12.5 points in 2026 for its neighbourhood pasta. The restaurant is a small, bistro-style spot where the menu is built around pasta.

Pasta made in the kitchen

Everything is made in-house, and the pasta sits at the centre of the menu. Gault&Millau singled out bigoli carbonara with Roman touches and linguine with vongole. Le Fooding found the carbonara true to Roman tradition, with guanciale adding a meaty depth. Fresh caramelle are filled with ricotta, prosciutto di Parma and chives, then finished with sage butter.

A small room and a heated terrace

The dining room is compact, with a marble bar and a central island under lights painted with koi. An antique chest of drawers from Poland adds a personal touch. The heated terrace is open for aperitivo, antipasti, dessert and digestifs, but pasta is served only indoors. Tables are allocated by reservation and by walk-in arrivals on the day.

Does Matthieu Léonard’s place feel a little too immaculate? It’s true that with its manicured decor – a marble bar, a central island with overhanging lights painted with koi, an antique chest of drawers brought back from Poland – and its ideal location, this angular spot that’s always packed has a very “best in show” feel to it. But don’t count on us to play the bully boys. In truth, you’ll find only kindness at this chic and well-oiled eatery that is centered around pasta fresca made in-house. Can you pay homage to the land of Dante without saying “prego”? We’d have to say absolutely, after this three-course lunch: simplified vitello with plenty of pepper and some clever briny notes thank to some added ice plant: an intensely flavorful carbonara that plays by Roman orthodox rules, with hearty meaty notes from the guanciale; and a tender tiramisu, which still could have used a less moussey mascarpone. Ma, we can’t help but nitpick a little… // Salty Litchi
