The story
La Sitterie, at Route du Rawyl 41 in Sion, is a contemporary Valais restaurant that Gault&Millau rated 15 points for 2026. The restaurant occupies a house built at the start of the 20th century, a short drive north of the town.
Jacques Bovier, a Valais craftsman cook, took over the restaurant in 2004. His kitchen builds on Alpine produce, with room for ideas from further afield. The daily three-course menu is offered for at least two guests, and a vegetarian menu can be prepared on request.
Gault&Millau praised the loin of Corsican amberjack, served with a parsley, chervil and fennel jus alongside spring turnips and peas. The meal ended with a mirabelle sabayon flavored with Japanese plum liqueur. The same review found other plates uneven, including a watery asparagus soup. The wine cellar, the reviewer noted, holds strong Valais crus.
Guests arrive through a garden planted with aromatic herbs, cherry trees and cypresses. When the sun allows, the gravel and lawn terrace fills with armchairs. In bad weather, a table is kept indoors.
