The story
Ritz, at ul. Szafarnia 6/U6 in Gdańsk, is a modern cuisine restaurant that received a Gault&Millau score of 12 for 2026. The kitchen is run by Basia Ritz, winner of the first Polish edition of MasterChef.
The restaurant opened in 2014 as Basia Ritz's own concept. The kitchen works with local, seasonal produce and reworks classic Polish recipes using techniques and flavours from other cuisines. Because the dishes change with the seasons and product availability, there is no fixed menu, only a tasting menu.
The tasting menu runs to eight courses, served with house-baked breads. Gault&Millau singled out scallop with lobster and trout caviar, quail with mushrooms and lingonberry, and venison with potato, edamame, pepper and rosemary. Guests can add a paired wine selection.
Large windows look out over the Motława River. The interior uses a muted palette and a calm, refined look. Ritz suits a quiet dinner for two as well as a business meeting. On Friday and Saturday evenings, and for tables of five or more, only the tasting menu is served, so it helps to book ahead by phone.
