The story

Fisherman Gdańsk: Seafood and Polish Cooking, Gault&Millau 14 for 2026

Fisherman in Gdańsk is a seafood restaurant at Grunwaldzka 89, 81-771 Sopot, and it earned a Gault&Millau score of 14 for 2026. Its seasonal menu is built on Polish cooking, with fresh fish, game and foraged greens.

Chef and cooking style

Head chef Rafał Koziorzemski builds the menu on Polish home cooking, then pushes it in unexpected directions. The kitchen cooks every dish from fresh ingredients and does not use frozen products. Cooks gather herbs such as wild garlic, wood sorrel and wild rocket from nearby meadows and forests. Koziorzemski has won several culinary competitions, including the Transgourmet Chefs en Or contest in 2023.

Dishes on the plate

The rainbow trout tartare arrives with mustard, egg yolk, capers and pickled onion. A soup of fermented sorrel comes with potato purée and a confit egg yolk. Mains include three fish dishes alongside rabbit and venison, and vegans can order asparagus in a brown butter sauce. For guests who want to try more, the kitchen offers a six or nine course tasting menu.

Room and atmosphere

The dining room uses sea tones, grey, white and light wood, with large windows that fill the room with daylight. A fish-scale patterned bar stands out, and a glass-enclosed patio adds seating. The garden terrace is covered, so guests can eat outside in rainy weather during the season. Staff know the menu and the extensive wine list well, and the restaurant also hosts private dining, catering and a kids menu.

Interior and Atmosphere Fisherman is a restaurant located in the coastal strip of Sopot. It is furnished simply, somewhat in a tavern style – sea tones, grays, white, and light wood dominate the space; large windows allow plenty of natural light to flood the interior during the day. In addition to the main dining room – where you should take note of the striking fish-scale-patterned bar and the wall displaying the head chef’s diplomas (a guarantee that it will be delicious!) – there is also a glass-enclosed patio. The restaurant’s garden terrace is covered, which means that even on rainy days during the season, you can dine outdoors. Cuisine and Chef This restaurant is an excellent destination for lovers of unconventional flavors. The foundation of Head Chef Rafał Koziorzemski’s seasonal signature menu is Polish cuisine. On the short but diverse and interesting menu, you will find both fresh fish and seafood from trusted suppliers, as well as game meats or dishes based on seasonal ingredients, often foraged from nearby meadows or forests. Service and Occasions A flavorful rainbow trout tartare sits alongside a soup made from fermented sorrel, served with potato puree and a melt-in-your-mouth confit egg yolk. Among the main courses, alongside three types of fish, you will find rabbit and venison dishes, and for vegans, for example, asparagus in a delicate brown butter sauce. Desserts are absolutely classic but surprise with unconventional presentations or accompaniments – and it is always a pleasant surprise. For those who cannot decide on just one dish, Fisherman offers a tasting menu – featuring six or nine courses. It is worth highlighting that the well-trained, friendly, and professional staff can engagingly and knowledgeably discuss the chef’s culinary concepts and are highly proficient in navigating both the menu and the extensive wine list.
