The story
Reua Thai, a Thai restaurant at Dorpstraat 45b in Nuth, Heerlen, earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good-quality, good-value cooking. The Thai kitchen is run by chef Pattama Simons, and the room sits across from the church in the village centre.
Pattama Simons, who grew up cooking with the flavours of Chiang Mai, brings her Thai background to every plate. The kitchen uses vegetables from its own garden, supplemented by local suppliers and ingredients brought in from Thailand. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant 14 points and described it as an unconventional Thai restaurant with a distinct approach.
Guests can choose a set menu of three to five courses or order from a shorter à la carte list. Recent dishes include asparagus tom kha with grey shrimp and coconut milk, and massaman curry with slow-cooked beef, cinnamon and peanuts. The à la carte list also offers gai tod, fried chicken, and moo satay served with peanut sauce.
The dining room is open, with the kitchen raised so guests can see the pass. Neon lighting and a sleek interior give the room a modern feel. The wine list is brief but well chosen, and the restaurant offers wine pairings with the set menus.
