The story
Fa. Pekelhaaring, at Van Woustraat 127 in Amsterdam, is an Italian restaurant that earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, recognised for good quality, good value cooking. The kitchen takes its roots from Italian tradition but is not confined to it, and the ingredients set the direction for each plate.
Chefs build each dish around its main ingredient, adding unexpected turns and a local touch. The 2026 Gault&Millau guide gave the restaurant a score of 13 and noted that some dishes would sit as comfortably in a French bistro as in an Italian one. The brothers Matthias and Lennard van der Nagel founded the restaurant.
Primi include linguine with lobster and bisque, and gnocchi with taleggio foam and white asperges. From the secondi, the tagliata di manzo comes from the barbecue, served with rocket, balsamico and parmesan. Dessert ends with a white chocolate cheesecake with raspberry sauce, or an affogato.
