The story
Amber Garden serves modern Chinese cuisine at Van Heuven Goedhartlaan 15 in Amstelveen, in the Amsterdam area, and was listed as Michelin Recommended in 2026. It opened in 2019 as part of the Yisheng Group.
Executive Chef Shaun Song has final say in the kitchen. Owner Stark Li represents the third generation of a Chinese restaurant family. The à la carte menu is broad, and the Lekker500 guide kept the restaurant in its Top 500 for 2026, praising both the cooking and the warmth of the team.
The house signature is the Amber Beijing, a roasted whole duck with crisp skin, served with osmanthus pudding, cucumber and Baerii caviar. Ask for it in advance, as it needs about an hour of preparation. Starters have included wagyu siu mai and xiao long bao. The seasonal menu leans toward swimming crab and slow-stewed lamb. For dessert, the kitchen has served chilled mango sago with pomelo and white chocolate.
Dark floor tiles, white leather chairs and lacquered tables give the dining room a calm, polished look. It seats just over a hundred guests, with private dining spaces on the ground floor. The Compass menu offers four or five courses for those who prefer a guided meal over sharing.
