The story
Eckert | Fine Dining in Lörrach holds one Michelin star (2026) for its modern cuisine, served at Basler Straße 20 in Grenzach-Wyhlen, where Germany meets France and Switzerland. The restaurant is part of Hotel Eckert, a family-run house.
Chef Nicolai Wiedmer cooks with a clear preference for Asian flavors, and vegetables sit at the center of the plate. Fish or meat can be added to a dish. He works alongside his father Rainer, and the team keeps its southern Baden roots in view. The Asian and European fusion style stays product-focused and relaxed.
Turbot comes with Thai curry and kaffir lime. Pork belly is paired with cucumber, shiitake, XO sauce and miso. The vegan menu keeps the same components and changes only the main ingredient: a leek and nori roll replaces the turbot, and tempeh takes the place of the pork belly. Guests choose between two menus or order à la carte, and midweek lunch brings a business lunch and a small tasting menu.
Natural tones and a large window front frame the greenery outside. The chairs are Vitra, comfortable enough for a long dinner. Sommelier Atlanta Lehmann leans toward regional bottles, and fifteen wines are poured by the glass.
