The story
Gasthaus Schwanen at Talstr. 9 in Lörrach is a family-run German inn with a Badische and Swabian kitchen. The Schlemmer Atlas gave it 2.5 Kochlöffel for 2026, and the third generation of the family still runs the house.
Markus Wekerle leads the kitchen as chef de cuisine. The cooking follows Baden-French traditions, and the house offers a surprise menu for guests who want the kitchen to choose. Swabian favorites and creative pasta dishes also appear on the menu.
The dining room feels cozy and rustic, and seating is limited, so the team recommends booking ahead. Alexandra Wekerle manages the front of house. The inn distills its own schnapps and liqueurs, and a beer garden is part of the property.
