The story
Vest, at Lange Torhoutstraat 22 in Ieper, is a modern cuisine restaurant that earned a Gault&Millau score of 13.5 for 2026. The building was formerly known as Découverte, and it still carries its old mansion character near the Menin Gate.
The kitchen works mainly with local and organic produce, and it cooks with herbs from its own city garden. There is no à la carte. Lunch is a three-course menu at €49, or €40 without dessert, while the evening menus run to four courses at €73 or five at €87, drinks excluded. Recent lunch dishes included crudo of scallop with broad beans and fennel, and lacquered duck with a Banyuls jus.
When the weather allows, meals move to the inner garden, which is an unusual setting in the old town. Vest also has two guest rooms in a renovated townhouse, a practical option for anyone cycling the Front-route 14-18.
