The story
Klei is a modern cuisine restaurant at Grote Markt 11 in Ieper, Belgium, and it earned a Gault&Millau score of 13.5 in 2026. The seasonal kitchen works with local produce on the market square in the heart of the Westhoek.
Chef Jonathan Devogel leads the kitchen, which follows the seasons and the region. The "K" Collection has included veal tartare with langoustine and sakura, North Sea fish with XO and ponzu, and lamb neck cooked at 57°C with paloise and tomato. The afternoon Gastrolunch offers three bites, including horse mackerel with rhubarb and BBQ beef sirloin with portobello.
The dining room feels warm and stylish, suited to a leisurely lunch or a special dinner. A private dining room seats up to 12 guests. When the weather allows, aperitifs and coffee are served on the terrace facing the Grote Markt, though dinner is not served outside.
