The story
Gioia, at Rue Belliard 36 in Brussels (Etterbeek), is an Italian kitchen built around fresh pasta, and Michelin listed it as Recommended in 2026.
Fresh pasta is the centre of the kitchen, shaped daily by a sfoglina from flour and eggs. The Bottega sells the pasta with its sauces, so the dough can travel home with you. Carine Teston and Tania Nicaise run the restaurant, which grew out of Carine's Mediterranean sandwich bar Carina in the European District. Tania, who trained as a sommelier, joined the project after years of cooking abroad.
Gioia has a bar, casual tables, a cosy corner and a terrace at the back. Service follows the Italian day: Pranzo at lunch, Aperitivo with cocktails, cold cuts and cheeses, and Cena in the evening. Gault&Millau scored it 13.5 for 2026, praising its light, modern look and the Italian mood at the bar and on the terrace.
