The story
August in Antwerpen (Antwerp), Belgium, runs a seasonal kitchen at Jules Bordetstraat 5, 2018, inside a former Augustinian convent. Gault&Millau awarded it 14 points in 2026.
The menu is built around product, season and terroir, with dishes that aim to be accessible yet creative. They shift with the rhythm of the seasons, so the menu you read online may differ from what arrives at your table on the day you visit. A sharing lunch sits alongside the main menu.
The restaurant occupies the corridor that wraps around the original convent chapel. Architect Vincent Van Duysen guided the conversion, his first hotel project, and kept the building's authentic spaces intact. Gault&Millau notes an internationally trained service team that keeps the welcome smooth and unhurried.
August Bar is open to everyone and serves savoury bar food alongside interpretations of classic cocktails. Guests can sit in the covered, heated garden terrace or in the high-ceilinged chapel. Breakfast is now à la carte, with fresh seasonal dishes that the kitchen describes as a choice rooted in sustainability. The We're Smart Green Guide gave August one radish in 2026.
