The story
Au Vieux Nendaz is a restaurant in Sitten, at Route de Siviez 137 in Haute-Nendaz, serving game-focused local cuisine in an old alpine pasture house. It holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, awarded for good-quality, good-value cooking.
Clara Laurent runs the dining room and Adrien Lopez cooks, and the two of them handle every service alone. Twelve tables in total, six at lunch and six in the evening, so booking ahead matters. Lopez learned his trade at Mont-Rouge nearby and refined his game cooking at the Abbaye de Montheron near Lausanne. Gault&Millau gave the restaurant a score of 13 for 2026.
Hunting season brings venison, roe deer, ibex and wild boar to the menu, with marmot à la royale as well. Sauces can surprise: raspberry vinegar, or quince jelly standing in for a quail egg. Without game, the malakoff with black garlic and the smoked trout rillettes are worth ordering. Desserts include a mulled wine granité with Vieille Prune mousse, and a panna cotta made with local figs.
