The story
Monopol serves modern cuisine on the ground floor of Hotel Monopol at ul. Heleny Modrzejewskiej 2 in Wrocław, Poland, and earned a Gault&Millau score of 12.5 for 2026. It is the more casual of the hotel's two restaurants, the other being Acquario on the sixth floor.
Head chef Mariusz Kozak completed a Professional Chef Diploma at Westminster Kingsway College. He spent eight years in London kitchens, including a restaurant run by Gordon Ramsay, before continuing his career in Poland at Brasserie Warszawska and Food Art Gallery. He cites French cooking as his favourite, mainly for its technique and refined flavour pairings.
The menu is short and built on fresh, high-quality ingredients, with classic dishes given a modern twist. The pan-seared sea bass is the standout. The vegetable sides arrive consistently crisp and well seasoned, and the dishes change with the seasons.
Large windows, marble columns and Art Deco decor give the spacious dining room an elegant air. The wine list is exceptionally extensive, led by Italian bottles with French and Spanish options. The Wrocław Opera House is close by, which makes Monopol a convenient choice for dinner before or after a performance.
