The story
Mezger is a modern French restaurant at Domburgseweg 26 in Domburg, listed under Middelburg and named Michelin Recommended for 2026. It sits at the edge of town in a glass orangery between the two villas of Mezger Lodges.
Jeroen Tanis cooks, and his wife Sanne runs the dining room and chooses the wines. They opened Mezger in 2017. Gault&Millau gave the kitchen 13.5 points in 2026 and singles out fresh Zeeland shellfish and fish, with game in season. The French cooking carries contemporary additions and a taste for techniques from further afield.
Reviewers have described sea bass tartare with ponzu and mandarin kosho, and slow-cooked ray with green curry, coconut milk and a crisp papadum. Another dish pairs oven-cooked cod loin with a beurre blanc made from goat butter. A multi-course menu sits beside a short à la carte selection, and a cheese board can close the meal.
The restaurant takes its name from Dr. Mezger, a physiotherapy pioneer who had a villa built on this site in 1887. Today the room is bright with glass, Finnish wood, Prussian blue wall benches and Escher-inspired wallpaper. Lunch and dinner are served, outdoor seating is available, and the lodges next door offer overnight stays.
