The story
Woods is a modern cuisine restaurant at Haagweg 81 in Leiden, awarded 12 points by Gault&Millau in 2026. It occupies a former drying shed on the Oude Rijn, with a terrace right on the water.
Chef Vincent van der Pluijm cooks a seasonal menu of around twenty small courses at one price. Guests can order a set four to seven course menu or choose from the card. Recent dishes include steak tartare with paprika relish and rosti, and Jacks Creek bavette with rendang and chanterelles.
The old drying loft keeps its robust beams, with antique louvre doors, flower arrangements and tables laid with white linen. In warm weather, the terrace by the water is the place to sit.
