The story
Restaurant élevé sits at Heliconweg 52 in Leeuwarden, where its French kitchen earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026 for good-quality, good-value cooking. The restaurant occupies the eleventh floor of the WestCord Hotel, so the dining room looks out over the Frisian capital.
Chef Mike Kalkman leads the kitchen from an open pass that divides the room into two areas. Gault&Millau awarded the restaurant 14 points for 2026 and noted his preference for local products. Reviewers describe a classical French base with clear, fresh flavours and a willingness to experiment with ingredients.
One recent review described a Anjou pigeon with pistachio crumble and a peppery jus, and a tuna glazed with sambal. Tables are spaced for privacy, and the acoustics are considered good. A Skybar on the same floor serves cocktails before or after dinner. The house asks for smart casual dress, so shorts and sportswear are not permitted.
