The story
Fushimimachi Kakoiyama is a Japanese restaurant in Osaka, at 2-4-12 Fushimimachi, Chuo-ku, and it holds one Michelin star (2026) for high quality cooking. The restaurant takes its character from Senba, the Osaka merchant district that was known as the kitchen of the realm in the Edo period.
The room follows the spirit of the tea ceremony. Senba was once home to a practice space of the Yabunouchi tea school, and the interior draws on that history. Fine timber, juraku earth walls, brick, lacquer and garden stones were chosen with care. Counter seating and a chef's table are both offered, and the restaurant accepts reservations only.
The kitchen gathers produce from the sea, lakes, rivers, mountains and fields. Each dish is shaped around the season and the occasion, with considerable preparation behind every course. Gault&Millau awarded the restaurant 16 points in 2026, and the cooking is presented as a single meal meant to show what Japanese food can be when it is served in the vessel.
