The story
Pageou, at Kardinal-Faulhaber-Straße 10 in Munich, is a Mediterranean restaurant run by chef Ali Güngörmüş and listed as Recommended in the Michelin Guide 2026. It sits on the first floor, in the Fünf Höfe.
Güngörmüş named the restaurant after the village in eastern Anatolia where he spent the first ten years of his life. His mother's lamb dishes and the bread his grandmother baked on the floor stayed with him. He trained in Munich kitchens, including Tantris, and later earned a Michelin star at Le Canard Nouveau. Pageou opened in October 2014. His guiding idea is to make the best out of simple, good products.
The large meze platter is the easiest way into the menu. It brings creamy hummus with smoked paprika and pomegranate, feta börek with zucchini and date dip, and octopus with pointed cabbage and currants. The crispy oven-roasted Pageou duck is made for two and carved at the table. It comes with ginger cranberries, apple red cabbage and dumplings. French-inspired technique meets Oriental spices throughout. Two menus (one vegetarian) and à la carte are on offer.
The dining room is bright and spacious, with high ceilings and carefully placed lighting. The Schlemmer Atlas, which gave it three Kochlöffel in 2026, describes a listed city palace. The wine list runs to around 300 selections. There is a terrace for warmer evenings, and the restaurant also offers cooking classes.
