The story
Buffet Kull is a French bistro at Marienstraße 4 in Munich, run in a New York style and listed as Recommended by the Michelin Guide in 2026. The room has starched tablecloths and sparkling glasses, and in summer tables are set out on the sidewalk.
Rudi Kull and Albert Weinzierl met more than 20 years ago, when Munich's city centre was empty after dark. Inspired by Kull's time in New York, they opened a French bistro in that spirit. The restaurant still calls itself a classic that stays modern.
The kitchen pairs French brasserie cooking with Mediterranean-inspired meat and fish. The NY-style filet steak is the named classic, and the menu also lists contemporary fish dishes, vegetarian plates and reworked compositions. The Schlemmer Atlas, which awarded two Kochlöffel in 2026, points to moules frites and Crêpe Suzette.
Dimmed light falls through floor-to-ceiling mullioned windows, mirrors line the walls, and the tables sit close together. The result is a lively, urban room built for conversation. The drinks list covers wine and spirits, and Wine Spectator gave it a Best of Award of Excellence in 2024.
