The story

Haus Meer Düsseldorf: French and Japanese dining with Jay Lee's omakase counter

Haus Meer in Düsseldorf, at Moerser Str. 129 in Meerbusch, is a French and Japanese restaurant that earned three Kochlöffel in the Schlemmer Atlas (2026).

Omakase at the sushi counter

Sushi master Jay Lee runs the omakase, so the chef chooses the courses and the selection changes daily. Six seats sit at the counter in the lower-level room, close enough to watch his knife work. The restaurant describes the room as traditionally Japanese in its restraint, and the small group size keeps the evening quiet and personal.

Bistro cooking and the wine cellar

The main dining room pairs a bistro kitchen with a bar and an outdoor terrace. The kitchen cooks with seasonal and regional ingredients. Master of Wine Konstantin Baum assembled the cellar list from wine regions around the world, and Wine Spectator has recognized the restaurant with its Best of Award of Excellence (2025).
