The story
Landhaus Mönchenwerth, at Niederlöricker Straße 56 in Meerbusch just outside Düsseldorf, is a French restaurant on the Rhine that Der Feinschmecker rated 2.5 in 2026. The kitchen works in a classic French register, and the setting is a half-timbered house on the water.
Guy de Vries cooks with luxury ingredients such as lobster, turbot, beef fillet, foie gras and truffles. The French menu avoids experiments, though Asian influences surface in the seasoning. Regulars come for that consistency.
A spicy red gazpacho sits under tender lobster medallions, and watermelon adds freshness to the plate. Lamb rack arrives with artichoke purée and bell pepper jus. For dessert, peach mille-feuille comes with apricot ragout and white peach sorbet.
In summer the covered terrace opens, and the outdoor area has views of the river. The wine list holds around 350 selections at fair prices, though it does not always match what is in the cellar. Service can slow when the room is full.
