The story
Restaurant M in Essen serves fusion cooking and German home-style dishes at Steile Str. 46, 45149 Essen, inside the Mintrops City Hotel in the Margarethenhöhe. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded the restaurant 2 Kochlöffel in 2026.
The kitchen team develops its dishes together, working with carefully chosen ingredients, many grown on the hotel's own organic land. Plates move between fish, meat and vegetarian options, with a touch of Asian influence, a hint of Italian and hearty German home cooking. Vegan and vegetarian diners are catered for.
The day begins with an organic breakfast and can end with a multi-course dinner. A set lunch menu is also offered. According to the restaurant's website, its gourmet kitchen has held a Gault Millau chef's hat since 2019.
