The story
La Marelle Café in Mons, at Rue des Trieux 36 in Blaregnies, is a Belgian bistro that earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, a distinction for good-quality, good-value cooking. The café grew out of a former catering room, and the owners kept its focus on unfussy, affordable plates.
The menu draws on Belgian dishes that many restaurants have dropped, such as hachis Parmentier, meatballs in tomato sauce and pure pork meatloaf. Charcuterie and terrines are made on site, including a homemade cervelas and boudins. The platters, which the café has been known for since it opened, remain central to the table.
The artisanal beer list is one of the café's strongest draws, and the press has called it among the best in the country. Gault&Millau describes a warm, simple and cosy interior, with space outside where children can play while adults linger. Outdoor seating, parking and air conditioning are available.
