The story
Rizom, at Rue Sainte-Louise 82 in Mons, serves contemporary cuisine in a wing of the Grand-Hornu museum site. Gault&Millau rated it 14.5 in 2026.
Olivier De Vriendt is chef and owner. Gault&Millau describes his cooking as precise, bold and plant-based, and says it sits comfortably beside the art in the surrounding galleries. The kitchen calls its approach gastronomic but relaxed, with a style drawn from several cultures and local produce. Every dish on the three-course menu comes in three versions: vege, pesce and carne.
Menu Éveil, at 64 €, opens with grape, fig and fresh goat cheese. Racines (74 €), Harmonie (84 €) and Symbiose (95 €) add dishes such as beef tartare, salmon gravlax, Liège-style salad and veal. Turbot, A5 Wagyu and caviar are available as supplements. A 60 € business lunch runs Tuesday to Friday at midday.
Pairings come as wine, beer, non-alcoholic or a mix, in three to six glasses. The chef also wanted his dishes matched with kefirs. The restaurant sits within a UNESCO-listed former colliery, and the We're Smart Green Guide gave it 1 Radish in 2026.
