The story
't Kantientje is a brasserie at Ramskapellestraat 61 in Ramskapelle, part of Knokke-Heist, and carries a Michelin Recommended listing for 2026. The kitchen is run by chef Dominique Pille, and the dining room by his wife.
Pille's stated credo is no-nonsense dishes and honest flavours, and the menu follows the seasons. Earlier honours include the title of best Belgian mussel cook (1995) and the Silver Bistro (2012). In 2026, Gault&Millau scored the restaurant 14.
The brasserie's classics include pan-fried sole, Danish cod and house-made shrimp croquettes. Meat eaters get entrecote or Irish Angus fillet. Lobster comes fresh from the homarium and is cooked the way you prefer. The cold starters lean on the sea too, with Gillardeau and Zeeland flat oysters, hand-peeled grey shrimp salad and turbot carpaccio.
The dining room is homely, with a half-open kitchen that lets the aromas reach the tables. When the sun is out, the terrace is the place to sit. Marleen Van Den Broucke leads the floor with a waiting team that has stayed for years. The restaurant spent two decades on the Lippenslaan in Knokke before moving to Ramskapelle in 2009, where the atmosphere is more relaxed.
