The story
Boo Raan is a Thai restaurant at Edward Verheyestraat 17 in Knokke-Heist, awarded one Michelin star in 2026. The name means "tradition," and chef Dokkoon Kapueak cooks to it.
Every dish is made fresh and à la minute, straight from the wok, the grill or a simple simmering pot. The kitchen uses only fresh Thai herbs, pounds its own curry paste and makes coconut milk the way Dokkoon's grandmother taught her. Gault&Millau gives it 14 points and counts it among the finest Thai restaurants in Belgium.
As in Thailand, there is no starter and main course. Dishes arrive together in the middle of the table and are eaten with fork and spoon. The Isaan menu follows recipes from Dokkoon's grandmother, from the north-east near the Laos border, where chili and sticky rice shape the cooking. Each set menu opens with a Streetfood Mix.
