The story
La Rigue is a Belgian and Classic French restaurant at Elizabetlaan 160 in Knokke-Heist, inside the La Réserve hotel on the Zegemeer lake. Michelin listed it as Recommended in 2026, and Gault&Millau scored it 13.5 the same year.
The menu leans on familiar standards: steak tartare, asparagus à la flamande with tomato and North Sea shrimp, and shrimp croquettes. The kitchen aims to serve these dishes in a refined form, with high-quality produce treated with care. A set Classics menu at €85, drinks excluded, runs from shrimp croquette to filet pur with beurre noisette, or catch of the day with asparagus and beurre blanc, and finishes with a dame blanche.
Breakfast is open to non-hotel guests as well, with a buffet of oven-fresh viennoiserie, artisan breads, seasonal fruit, cheeses and charcuterie. Egg dishes and homemade sweets are available à la carte, and a champagne breakfast suits a slower start. At lunch, the Franco-Belgian chef's menu costs €50 for two courses or €65 for three on weekdays, and €75 for three courses at weekends, drinks excluded.
The design sets the tone from the moment you walk in, with a contemporary room whose architecture shapes the whole space. Tables look out over the Zegemeer, and a south-facing terrace extends the room outdoors. The atmosphere is elegant but easygoing, with a relaxed pace that suits both a long lunch and an evening meal.
