The story
De Zwaan is a brasserie at Kiezelstraat 136 in Hasselt, in the Godsheide district, and it holds 12 points in the Gault&Millau guide for 2026. The building was once a village café, and the kitchen works with fresh ingredients and carefully chosen wines.
The menu changes monthly. Recent suggestions on the site include tuna tartare with papadum, cod with mussels and a white wine sauce, and gnocchi with burrata and pesto tomatoes. Groups of eight or more can choose from shared tapas, four main courses chalked on a board, and à la carte desserts.
The old part of the café keeps the feel of a brown bar, while the orangerie suits slower meals. In good weather, a garden terrace behind the presbytery is open daily from 15:00 to 23:00, with live music and no reservations.
