The story
Lepelem is a modern French restaurant in Brugge, at Brugse Baan 16 in Vlissegem, and it earned a Gault&Millau score of 13 in 2026. Chef Christopher Gordon Somkit cooks alongside host and sommelier Ellen Claeys, who runs the front of house.
Christopher follows the seasons with produce from local suppliers, and the menu mixes classic dishes with seasonal favourites. Langoustines appear in two preparations as a starter, and the bread and desserts are made in-house. Hand-peeled prawns with creamy burrata and a perfumed dashi show how the kitchen moves between familiar flavours and more daring ones.
The dining room is calm and warm, with a fireplace for cooler evenings and a terrace kept free for guests. Ellen arranges the wines by taste, and the house also pours homemade non-alcoholic pairings, such as smoked lime with elderflower.
