The story
De Zuidkant is a modern cuisine restaurant at Jacob van Maerlantstraat 6 in Damme, close to Brugge, and it holds one Michelin star in 2026. Patrick van Hoorn runs the kitchen and Cora Moerman looks after the room.
Gault&Millau gives the restaurant 15 points for 2026 and describes an owner-chef who has cooked at a high level for many years and keeps that standard. The Michelin guide notes that his style runs from classic to creative. It also points to the small touches that give the main ingredient tension: ointments, crisps and sauces. The chef greets guests from an open kitchen.
A recent menu opened with langoustine tartare, bergamot and apple, then moved to skrei with Oud Brugge cream, chorizo and fermented celeriac. Scallops with winter truffle and duck with kohlrabi and vadouvan followed, and dessert was mango with cheesecake and passion fruit. A pastel de nata with reblochon sits in the middle of the sequence. Dinner is offered as four, five or six courses, and a three-course lunch menu is also served.
The dining room is small and intimate, with a fireplace and a romantic setting. At the back, a private room seats groups of up to 20. The restaurant also has outdoor seating.
