The story
Maison Marit, at chaussée de Nivelles 336 in Braine-l'Alleud, is a classic French restaurant that earned one Michelin star in 2026. The house has welcomed guests since it opened in 1991, and the family has run it for two generations.
Dimitri works the stove, and the menu changes with the seasons. The kitchen uses regional produce and also draws on flavours from further afield. Gault&Millau notes that Marit loves culinary trilogies, a structure that shapes many of the dishes and scored the restaurant 15 in 2026.
Emmanuelle leads the dining room. The restaurant sits in quiet countryside but stays easy to reach from the ring road and the E19. Guests can eat on the terrace or in the garden, where the animals are in view, and there is a large private car park.
