The story
Maïnoï serves Thai cuisine at Chaussée Reine Astrid 34 in Braine-l'Alleud, and Gault&Millau awarded the kitchen 13.5 points in 2026. The restaurant is a family business that keeps the classics of the Thai table and reworks them with a bold, modern touch.
Two generations of cooks work the stoves, and the menu runs from soups and starters through mains to desserts. The team draws on 30 years of family experience and pairs Asian ingredients with carefully chosen Belgian produce. Gault&Millau singled out the deep red Panang Kai, which it describes as powerful yet subtle. The Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026 recognises the same thing from another angle: good quality cooking at good value.
Wood is everywhere in the dining room, and warm tones on the walls make it cosy. At lunch the mood is fresh and tropical, while evenings turn softer and more intimate. When the weather allows, a terrace of about 15 seats opens outside. Gault&Millau notes that Tan and his wife Fon greet guests warmly.
