The story
U Eat & Sleep in Antwerp serves French and modern cuisine at Nassaustraat 42, in a restored 1820 building on the city's marina. The Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for 2026, and Gault&Millau awarded it 12 points that year.
The menu moves between small bites, classic mains and seasonal plates. Guests can order French creuses oysters natural or dressed with citrus, Granny Smith and coconut. Steak tartare comes with horseradish, capers and a cured egg yolk, while the Entrecôte Black Angus is served with fries and a choice of béarnaise, pepper or bordelaise sauce.
Asparagus appears in spring, prepared à la Flamande or with smoked salmon and dill sauce. Pasta vongole and sole à la meunière round out the fish side of the kitchen.
The building dates from 1820 and was designed by the architect Pierre Bruno Bourla. Owners Hans Otten and Colette van Remortel renovated it to bring back the original plan. The hotel has 15 rooms, and the restaurant occupies the ground floor.
Many diners sit facing the marina and the MAS museum. Breakfast is served at the table, with artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, fresh fruit and eggs from farm hens.
The cocktail bar mixes classics such as the Negroni, the Espresso Martini and a Basil Smash, and there is a separate mocktail list. Dessert options include tarte tatin with pecans and vanilla ice cream, a Café Glacé with Kahlúa and mocha ice cream, and a Dame Blanche.
