The story
Overzee is a Thai and Southeast Asian restaurant at Dageraadplaats 7, 2018 Antwerp, Belgium, and it earned a Le Fooding listing in 2026. The dining room sits above Café Zeezicht, and the kitchen builds its meal around plates meant for the middle of the table.
Dishes arrive at the centre of the table so everyone can taste from them. The menu has no fixed courses and changes regularly with the seasons. Miang Kam, a classic of the region, asks guests to fill betel leaves with their own combination of ingredients.
Le Fooding's review describes plant-based wraps built on betel leaves, with shallots, dried shrimp, ginger, chili, curry paste and peanuts. Pork belly comes with bok choy and snow peas, and a spicy fish sauce on the side turns up the heat for those who want it. The meal ends with a soft Thai pancake served with coconut ice cream.
David Joris and Babs Cossers, formerly of Overvloed, run the restaurant, and green tones carry through the walls, windows, tables and chairs. The drinks list includes biodynamic wines, a house aperitif made with Thai basil, Asian beers and several non-alcoholic options.
