The story
Maven is a steakhouse at Luikstraat 4 in Antwerpen, and Gault&Millau awarded its kitchen 14 points in 2026. The restaurant occupies a former 1930 warehouse of the Luiknatie on the Antwerp Zuid side of town, and the menu is built around meat.
Butcher Luc De Laet, restaurateur Wim Van der Borght and young chef Jules Koninckx run the restaurant together. They describe their approach as noble meat craft. Gault&Millau praises a tour through prized cuts, including filet pur from Austrian Simmental cattle. The team works with European farms where cattle graze outdoors, and it can trace each animal's origin and feed. Japanese Wagyu and Kobe are the exception, and the team selects those animals itself.
The dry-aged selection is broad. Meat hangs in cold rooms to dry, then rests on racks before it reaches the plate. Artisan products, fresh vegetables, salad and herbs appear alongside. Wine Spectator gave the restaurant an Award of Excellence in 2022. For larger gatherings, the Private Room seats up to 12, and The Lobby, a separate bar for up to 80 guests, offers a digestif after dinner.
