The story
Etablissement 1880 is a modern French restaurant at Markt 9 in Groede, on the historic market square. Michelin lists it as Recommended for 2026.
Chef Mariella Jongman and host Danny Jongman have run the restaurant since 2002. Her cooking uses regional and seasonal products, many of them delivered fresh that day. Gault&Millau scores the restaurant 13.5 for 2026 and credits the craftsmanship in the kitchen.
The Zeeland-inspired menu is a surprise menu. For the main course, guests choose between fish and meat. The site lists two courses at 60 euro, three at 79 euro and four at 92 euro. Danny Jongman pairs the food with about twenty wines by the glass, plus bottles from France, Spain, South Africa, the United States and New Zealand.
