The story
Spinne is a seasonal restaurant at Eichkehle 58 in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, listed as Recommended in the Michelin Guide 2026. Jörg Friedrich cooks here with regional produce and a few trusted sources in France.
Friedrich began his apprenticeship at 17 in a small family restaurant on the Bergstraße. He later worked at the Brückenkeller in Frankfurt and at Da Gianni in Mannheim, both two-Michelin-star kitchens. He opened Spinne in 2010 in Gimmeldingen with his wife, and the restaurant has been on the Haardt since 2016. Alsace, Brittany and Limousin supply some of the produce, from sea fish to salt-marsh lamb. The Schlemmer Atlas gave the kitchen 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026.
The winter card included duck liver terrine with sweet wine jelly and brioche, seared scallops with champagne-orange dressing, and veal cheek with Madeira sauce. Pigeon came with elderberry jus, Brussels sprouts and pumpkin purée. The kitchen makes its own potatoes, pasta, stocks, jus, soups, ice cream, pâtés and terrines. Set menus ran from 64 to 93 euros, and the winter menu with blood sausage, veal cheek and lemon slice cost 69.
Christiana Friedrich runs the dining room and is a trained advisor for German wine. She hosts wine evenings with friendly estates. Groups of 15 adults or more can book private celebrations outside opening hours, with a sparkling wine reception and a three- or four-course menu. Guests can stay overnight in the guesthouse.
