The story
Mita, a Latin American restaurant at 804 V St. N.W. in Washington, D.C., holds one Michelin star for high quality cooking, awarded in 2026. The kitchen builds its menus around vegetables, with Latin American flavors as the through-line.
Chef and owner Miguel Guerra trained in culinary arts at Le Cordon Bleu and worked at prestigious restaurants and pastry shops across the United States. He describes his cooking as modern, drawing on his Latin American background and fusions with cuisines from elsewhere. His partner in the kitchen, chef and owner Tatiana Mora, is also a sommelier. She has cooked in kitchens across Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and the United States, and describes her approach as thoughtful, simple and innovative.
La Herencia, or "The Heritage," is the signature tasting menu, and its dishes change with the seasons. Camino Corto, "The Short Path," is a six-course tasting menu. A four-course menu called Origen is priced at $75 per person. The bar offers a curated four-course menu and à la carte options, alongside a cocktail program. The wine program earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2025. The menu is free of animal products.
