The story
Farra Wine Bar sits at 71 Worth Street in New York City, a small contemporary American room that earned a Michelin Recommended listing in 2026. It seats just 22.
Farra is a sister restaurant to Atera and sits two doors down from it. The name is an old Basque word meaning "to drink," once used to bring people together over a glass. The bar keeps that idea small and close.
Wine director Matthew Abbick curates an evolving by-the-glass selection and a longer bottle list. Pours range from a Lucien Crochet Sancerre to a 2018 Barolo from La Morra. The Madeira section reaches back to a 1901 D'Oliveiras Malvazia. Wine Spectator gave the program its Best of Award of Excellence in 2024.
The a la carte menu works for a light snack or a shared dinner. Salmon tartare comes with potato chip and nori. Hamachi crudo is paired with strawberry, yuzu and peanut, and shrimp ravioli arrives in a miso bonito bouillon. For dessert, there are chocolate pots de crème with passion fruit.
