The story
Da Valentino, at Via Torretta 7 in Locarno, is a Mediterranean restaurant that Gault&Millau scored 15 points in 2026. The kitchen builds its seasonal menu around fresh ingredients, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended the same year.
The menu changes with the seasons, so the dishes shift as the produce does. Starters include a tuna tagliata served pink with mustard sauce, and beef tartare finished with autumn truffle and Parmesan foam. Gault&Millau singled out the ricotta and wild garlic ravioli in a morel cream sauce, along with a sea bass fillet served with new potatoes and datterini tomatoes.
The restaurant has a terrace, a main dining room and a smaller room that can be booked for private meals. Gault&Millau described the vaulted cellar and the garden near Piazza Grande, where the owner and his wife handle the service personally. The wine list holds more than 100 labels, with Ticino and Italian bottles chosen to pair with the food.
