The story
Chez Philippe in Geneva is a steakhouse grill at Rue du Rhône 8, 1204 Geneva, and it holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand (2026) for good-quality, good-value cooking. The kitchen centres on meat, with the menu also covering fish, vegetarian dishes and salads.
Chef Philippe Chevrier opened the restaurant in 2015, after a dream that began on his first trip to New York in 1984. The steaks are cooked over beechwood charcoal, a method the kitchen describes as healthy and flavour-preserving. Meat arrives from La Grande Boucherie du Molard, where a master butcher prepares each cut. Kobe beef from Japan, Irish lamb, Swiss pork and French poultry all feature on the grill menu.
The ground-floor bar serves food continuously from 11:30 to 23:00, at the counter or at high bistro tables. Upstairs, the grill room has exposed brick, bare beams and contemporary art, which suits business dinners and family meals. The terrace shifts with the seasons. Gault&Millau awards the restaurant 15 points (2026), and the wine list offers over 450 international crus.
