The story
Café des Banques in Geneva serves modern cuisine at Rue de Hesse 6, 1204 Geneva, and earned a Gault&Millau score of 16 in 2026. The kitchen opens directly onto the dining room, so guests can watch each plate take shape before it reaches the table.
Yoann Caloué, a Norman, cooks in full view of the room. Seafood and high-quality meat feature often, prepared with careful technique and no unnecessary decoration. The restaurant is also listed as Recommended by Michelin for 2026.
Black cod arrives on creamy miso risotto with artichokes and confit tomatoes. The ravioli del plin are deconstructed, cooked al dente, and paired with green asparagus and morels in a vin jaune sauce. Between courses, a trou normand of crushed ice and Chartreuse Jaune is traditional, and the dessert "Chocolat, chocolat & chocolat" closes the meal.
A long granite table links the dining room with the kitchen, and plates are finished in front of diners. Upstairs, a private salon with a sofa and bookshelves suits intimate gatherings. In warm weather, a shaded terrace opens outside. The wine list is extensive, with Swiss and Italian crus alongside many French bottles.
