The story
Alkimia is a modern Catalan restaurant at Ronda San Antoni 41 in Barcelona, where the kitchen has held a 1 Star Michelin distinction (2026) for its high quality cooking. The restaurant offers Catalan and modern cuisine at lunch and dinner, with tasting menus built around seasonal produce.
Jordi Vilà leads the kitchen and describes the cooking as an exploration of Catalan tradition, from its core to its edges. The menu takes classic ingredients and works them with contemporary technique. Each dish is built around a short window of peak flavour, which the kitchen treats as the point where a plate comes together.
The main Catalan tasting menu, La Taula de Cuina Catalana, moves through starters, vegetables, seafood, and meat, with dishes such as escudella of fish and shellfish and roast pork with grilled tomato. A separate wild game menu, served seasonally during the hunting season, features hare, roe deer, partridge, and duck, stewed, grilled, or thinly sliced depending on the day's supply.
Private rooms sit at the front of the restaurant and are set up in a classic style for groups of different sizes. Each event is arranged to the needs of the guest.
