The story
Restavracija Strelec, in Ljubljana at Grajska planota 1, is a modern cuisine restaurant in the round Strelec Tower on Ljubljana Castle hill. Gault&Millau scored it 17.5 points in 2026, and the restaurant sits inside one of the city's most recognisable historic buildings.
Chef Igor Jagodic builds his menus around seasonal and microseasonal ingredients, many of them local. His style favours colour, texture and small, inventive compositions, and it draws on the plainness of Slovenian home cooking. Michelin lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026.
Cauliflower appears often, paired with egg yolk, breadcrumbs and truffle. Beef meets onion, rösti, lard and currants in a rustic combination that is balanced for richness and freshness. Dessert can bring white chocolate, pear, Jerusalem artichoke and yuzu, a lightly sweet finish.
The tower's walls carry sgraffito murals from a 1950s renovation, with scenes from Slovenian folk tales. Windows look out over the rooftops of the city. Strelec also hosts private dining and culinary and wine workshops for closed groups.
