The story
Altrokè is a Mediterranean restaurant at Stari trg 19 in Ljubljana's old town, and it received a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026. The kitchen draws on Istria and the Adriatic, with a menu that shifts with the seasons.
The restaurant makes its own olive oil and wine in Plavje, and both shape the kitchen's identity. Gault&Millau awarded it 13 points in 2026, pointing to cold starters such as a platter of Istrian and Karst cured meats and a venison tartare. Vegetarian starters receive the same care as the meat and seafood dishes.
Pasta is a strong choice here. Black tagliatelle with clams, spaghettoni with prawns and bottarga, and fuži with truffles all draw on regional flavours. Scallops and other seafood are cooked simply, so the daily catch leads. Meat eaters can order venison loin, Fricandó beef or lamb shank.
Lunch service runs from 12:00 to 17:00 and includes a three-course lunch menu alongside salad plates. For a longer look at the kitchen, the tasting menus move through the restaurant's approach course by course. Desserts finish the meal.
