The story
Rasoi By Vineet, at 8749 Hael in Jeddah's Al Andalus district, serves an Indian kitchen that earned a 12.5 score from Gault&Millau in 2026. The fine dining room sits on the first floor of the Mövenpick, and its menu of Indian cuisine rests on classic dishes cooked with close attention.
Vineet Bhatia, a Michelin-starred chef, first earned his star in London in 2001 by rethinking how Indian food is presented. In Jeddah the approach keeps the classics but refines both their content and their form. The kitchen also works with ingredients that are rare or unknown in India, a habit that has drawn praise from the New York Times.
Gault&Millau reviewers singled out the tikki amritsari, served with Punjabi chickpeas, almond crumbs, tamarind and yoghurt. The lamb korma is cooked with cashew nut paste and curry leaves, finished with shiitake and truffle oil, and the saffron rice is described as exemplary. For dessert, the menu lists a Chocomosa and a Kulfi-Falooda, and a meal can end with cardamom chai served alongside Naan Khatai.
The 110-seat dining room takes its design from the old quarters of Jeddah, the streets Bhatia fell for on his first visit. Large canvases painted like a herbalist's notebook hang between old wooden doors with cane panels, and the seats are upholstered in paisley. The room also hosts private parties, and the dress code asks for a culturally chic look.
